How far ahead do you take bookings?
We are currently taking bookings throughout 2009 and are happy to pencil in dates beyond this.

Do you require a deposit?
We usually ask for a deposit of 25% for quartet bookings or 50% for duo bookings in order to secure the date.

Do you have a cancellation fee?
For cancellations with less than 7 days notice the full fee remains payable, with 28 days notice 50% of the agreed fee is payable. Please do contact us if you forsee any problem with your booking in order that we can assist in any way possible.

Will I need to provide anything for the quartet?
We require four chairs at the venue, preferably dining chair style with no armrests. Our only other requirement is adequate lighting by which to read the manuscript.

How do I pay?
We ask for a deposit by cheque made payable to 'Magenta Quartet'. The balance can be paid in cash on the day of the booking or can be sent to us by cheque or bank transfer beforehand. Payment by credit/debit/paypal can be arranged but will incur a fee.

Will you play for an event outside?
If it's warm and dry enough for your event to take place outside we're usually happy to be outside too! If, however, there is any rain or strong direct sunlight we cannot play outside due to the delicate nature of our instruments.

What do you wear?
The quartet will wear formal black clothing appropriate to the event.

What if a quartet member is unavailable?
We have a bank of substitute players available if necessary, all of whom are professional musicians familiar with the repertoire of the quartet.

Can I make a request for a certain piece of music?
Of course! We are happy for you to make any requests in advance, which we will accommodate if at all possible. If a piece you require is not currently in our repertoire we can usually find or write an arrangement for you for a small fee.

What style of music do you play?
We play a range of styles of music: classical, jazz, popular, light classics. You can make a request for a particular genre or we can make a judgement dependent upon the event and atmosphere.

Do you take breaks?
As far as possible we try to take breaks during moments when music is not required (eg. speeches). If this is not possible we may take a short break during bookings of more than two hours. There will also be short breaks for tuning between pieces.
